Society PsaIt is the purpose of the Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc., to advance the study and practice of psychoanalysis; to support psychoanalytic practice through outreach efforts and continuing education; to establish and maintain standards for the practice of psychoanalysis; to support postgraduate training of psychoanalysts through continuing education; to foster the integration of psychoanalysis with the mental health professions, branches of medicine, and academia; to encourage basic and applied research that enhances scientific understanding and human welfare; to serve the community by providing training, services and other resources.

Membership

Voting membership is open to graduates of the Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc., and to graduates of accredited Institutes recognized by the American Psychoanalytic Association or the International Psychoanalytical Association. Voting membership is also open to Candidates in psychoanalytic training at the Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. Application for Voting membership may be made in writing to the secretary of the Center at the Sweitzer Lane address. Affiliate membership may be extended to persons whose interests and professional work are closely associated with the field of psychoanalysis.

Continuing Education

The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis frequently offers CME and CE credits to psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. The following statements apply to CME and CE credits, which are available for participants in many of the Center’s programs.

Physicians

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of American Psychoanalytic Association and Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc. The American Psychoanalytic Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Psychoanalytic Association designates this LIVE Activity for a maximum of one credit per hour AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Social Workers

The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc. is authorized by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor social work continuing education programs and maintains full responsibility for this program.  The Center's training programs qualify for Category 1 continuing education units. Effective 1.1.17 film series programs qualify for Category 2 continuing education units.

Psychologists

The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc. maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

The Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Psychoanalytic Education (ACPEinc).
